Barracuda recognized in 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Web Application Firewalls
Posted: Wed Oct 21, 2020 10:11:17 AM

Gartner has named Barracuda a Challenger in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Web Application Firewalls. This is the fourth year in a row that Barracuda has been recognized as a Challenger in this report based on ability to execute and completeness of vision.

In its independent analysis of web application firewall vendors – a detailed look at products and services – Gartner said, “The web application firewall market’s growth continues to be driven by cloud-delivered web application and API protection services. Security and risk management leaders must assess how WAFs can provide improved, easy-to-consume and easy-to-manage security that respects data privacy demands.”

Barracuda Web Application Firewall (WAF) protects applications, APIs, and mobile app backends against a variety of attacks including the OWASP Top 10, zero-day threats, data leakage, and application-layer denial of service (DoS) attacks. Barracuda WAF and WAF-as-a-Service are part of Barracuda Cloud Application Protection (CAP), a platform that protects web applications wherever they reside – in the cloud, on premises, or hybrid.

“For the fourth year in row, Barracuda has been recognized in the quadrant, and we believe this supports our vision of providing simplified application security on a proven security platform,” said Tim Jefferson, SVP, Engineering of Data Protection, Network and Application Security, Barracuda. “At Barracuda, we want to remove the complexity and deliver the protection organizations need, especially in their public cloud security strategy against zero-day threats, automated attacks, and more.”

What partners and customers are saying

“Customers want to consume security products without managing the underlying infrastructure which is a big benefit that a product like Barracuda’s WAFaaS brings,” said Des McGuire, Cloud Solutions Director, Servent Ltd. “Here at Servent, we have integrated the Barracuda WAFaaS into our Azure Foundation offering which centres around the Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure, and three pillars: Security, Governance and Cost Management. Given that WAFaaS runs on the Microsoft Azure platform is another big benefit for our customers and allows easier integration.”

“The solution has been fantastic,” said Zach Peer, Director of Technology, One North. “It’s automatically inspecting incoming requests and blocking malicious ones, but it’s also acting as a load balancer to keep site performance up. What’s more, Barracuda CloudGen WAF is easy to customize, so we can tweak security settings for individual apps, hosting environments, and incoming traffic that we know is either valid or malicious.”
