Strong Features, Ease of Deployment and Affordability Give Customers a Great Option to Secure Websites and Applications.

Campbell, Calif. - (Dec. 13, 2012) - Barracuda Networks Inc., the leading provider of security and data protection solutions, was awarded a five-star rating in SC Magazine's 2012 Application and Database Security Group Test for its Barracuda Web Application Firewall. SC Magazine reviewed seven enterprise-class solutions as part of this group test, and praised the Barracuda Web Application Firewall as a solid value.

The Barracuda Web Application Firewall was applauded for offering customers a quick and pain-free configuration process as well as for having a strong feature set at an affordable price. "Relatively inexpensive, but with a strong feature set, the Barracuda Web Application Firewall provides affordable security without skimping on features or breaking the bank," the review states. "From unboxing to completing our first policy configuration, we were up and running in about 15 minutes."

"We're thrilled that the Barracuda Web Application Firewall received a five-star rating from SC Magazine," said Michael Van Bruinisse, general manager of Barracuda Enterprise. "Even when compared to solutions that are twice as expensive, the Barracuda Web Application Firewall offers the necessary features to help enterprises secure their websites and prevent data loss."

Highlighted features of the Barracuda Web Application Firewall include:

  • Protection Against Distributed Denial of Service - mitigates DDoS attacks via client IP reputation intelligence, slow client attack prevention, brute force attack prevention and follow up action.
  • Data Loss Prevention - inspects all outbound Web traffic for content such as credit card and Social Security numbers, preventing confidential or sensitive data loss.
  • Expanded Application Security Coverage - leverages its shared security policy infrastructure to expand security coverage beyond critical systems, allowing it to be deployed in a variety of segregated networks to protect against advanced threats such as Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) and HTTP Parameter Pollution.
